Weekly: usually on a Saturday – local rivers eg Loop, Lower Dart, Walkham or (for Advanced members) Upper Dart, or Cardiff International White Water Centre
Weekends away: several throughout the year which involve camping/staying in a bunkhouse
- Tryweryn – at National White Water Centre in North Wales (pre-Alps and pre-Freshers)
- South Wales – rivers in South Wales (Jan/Feb)
ALPS! – 2 weeks camping and paddling the beautiful Alpine rivers of Slovenia, Italy and France
Other previous longer trips have included:
- Lakes / Yorkshire Dales – a training week for Intermediates
On all river trips, you will be led by experienced river leaders and safety from within the club, and these trips are a chance to try out all the skills learnt in pool sessions.
How do I sign up?
Emails will be sent out to all members advertising weekly trip at the start of the week and weekends away several weeks in advance. Sign-ups will be on the Forum.
Where do I meet?
At the Cave – our boat store on campus. For directions: head to the sports hall past the Arabic Studies building and the Physics building. Instead of walking to the right of the sports hall towards the reception, follow the building around to the left down a small path. The Cave is at the back of the building with garage doors.

What time do I meet?
For weekly trips, we normally leave sometime in the morning and will get back to Exeter in the late afternoon.
For weekends away, we’ll leave on Friday night and get back to Exeter on Sunday evening.
How much does it cost?
For weekly trips, just petrol money – normally about £5 to take you and all the kit (boats, paddles, helmets, spraydecks, BAs etc) to the river. For CIWC, it’s a bit more due to the entrance/membership fees.
For weekends away, normally between £30 – £40 – the cost of petrol and campsite/bunkhouse fees.
Please pay on Circle.
