EUCC runs trips every weekend, we have something for everyone, whether it’s a relaxed paddle down to Double Locks Pub for a Sunday lunch or spending the weekend on some cracking white water rivers in South Wales. We meet bright and early at the cave (see the map for directions) for a weekend of fun away from all that uni work!
Polzeath is quite often the highlight of the year for anyone in the club. The first weekend in October we make our way to Polzeath, in Cornwall, for a weekend of sea, sun, BBQs, partying, oh and some surf kayaking! This is truly not one to be missed! It’s a great way to get know fresher’s and older members of the club alike, have some fun and make memories that will last you a lifetime!
Teifi tour is a kayaking festival with mostly other unis (but also various canoe clubs from across the UK). We all headed up to the lovely town of Llandysul in Wales for 2 days of camping, partying and kayaking on the river Teifi, which flows right past the campsite. Some highlights include: Henllan falls and the party tent with an indoor pool. It’s definitely a weekend to remember (or maybe not remember depending on how the party goes) and a great way to get to know both members of EUCC and other uni canoe clubs from around the country.
In January 2020 the club was really excited to welcome Bren Orton, a professional kayaker known for his amazing freestyle moves and his trademark creativity, to give an amazing and awe-inspiring talk to the club and the local paddling community. Although sending it down huge waterfalls is not everyone’s thing, after the talk, everyone felt inspired to go on an adventure, take more risks, and live a little on the wild side. We’re excited to be able to host more great speakers and inspire the next generation of paddlers.
The Alps trip is definitely the peak of the year. Club members spend 2 weeks travelling round the Alps in Slovenia and France, paddling some of the best rivers and in truly some of the best scenery in the world. A 2 week adventure like no other, form some of the greatest bonds whilst camping amongst the mountains, party in a location like no other and push your white water paddling to a new level. A trip you will never forget.
